I completely agree, no young woman should be trapped like this!

After being mentally abused and put in physical danger after I was initiated. Needless to say I disaffiliated from my national sorority and nationals did nothing about this issue and is still illegally holding a deposit from me and other money (but that's another story). I would love to still be apart of Greek life because I know o had an uncommon experience but due to current rules I cannot. I understand that it is a large part because of knowing other sororities secrets but I still believe this unfairly slights women who were in my situation.

I completely agree. As a transfer student going to another that doen't have my chapter I would love to re-rush. Especially since I feel so unwelcome in my current sorority.

This becomes a large problem for transfer students if they were initiated into a sorority at their school and transfer to one where there is no chapter of the sorority . It's simply not fair that they should have to forgo the greek experience because they transferred schools.

I love my sisterhood, and feel that other women should have the best chance to find the one that is right for them.

When you initially join a chapter, the way you are treated is substantially different than after you initiate/move into the house/participate. You can't make a lifelong decision based on a week of best behaviors, door songs, crafts, and forced conversations. If you make the wrong decision/transfer to a school that lacks your chapter/other circumstance, you should be allowed to try your hand again.

You start off as a new memeber for a reason the time to decide if the sorority is for you or not, is before imitation. It's a commitment a life long one, you don't a divorce and redo. NPC bylaws should stand.

I agree with this proposal. I have been in the situation where the sorority I joined was not what I had thought it was and had hoped to disaffiliate and join a new but was unable to do so. This will give young women the opportunity to make a difference in the home they are best suited in.

Being greek has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Unfortunately I might be transferring and they don't have my chapter at my other school. Once you're apart of the best (greek life) it's hard to go turn away from the only life you know.

as much as I absolutely love my chapter and my sisters, not everyone is so lucky in recruitment the first time around, but everyone deserves a home in Greek life if they want it. give second chances, PHC!

I do love my sorority and my sisters but I am planning on transferring schools in a year and I still want to be a part of greek life so it limits my choices in which schools i may attend and i know many women feel the same struggle.

This is important. As a legacy, I was forced into my legacy house. All the other sororities dropped me, thinking it would be an honor. I thought it would be an honor too, but I was so wrong. I tried to make it a positive experience and improve our sorority but I was essentially kicked out a year later (due to some dumb rule I swear our advisor made up just to get rid of me about not filling out paperwork that literally no one told ever me to fill out). I never got to see the other side of recruitment. I never got a little after having essentially no big. I never got to go to Formal. I never really connected with anyone in our chapter either. However, I feel that I would have had a much better experience with any other sorority on campus. Furthermore, I also know of a lot of transfers who were forced to disaffiliate because their new university had no chapter or their chapter was so drastically different they didn't want to. With this rule, you are losing a lot of girls who want to be part of Greek Life and a sorority but can't anymore.

I'd love to see this go through! I don't believe it should be an unlimited number of re-dos but one more chance to find your home through Formal Recruitment after being initiated.

I am not at home with my sisters. I am transferring schools and my sorority is not offered at my new school, meaning I would have to walk away from Greek life forever. This petition means EVERYTHING TO ME. Please change the rules, NPC :( I want a home.
