We are saying NO to having whale sharks in captivity and displayed as part of Genting International's proposed attraction at the new Resorts World in Sentosa. We are appealing to the Minister for Trade and Industry and Singapore Tourism Board to stop this act of exploiting the wild, threatened or endangered animals for commercial purposes before it's TOO LATE! It would be cruel to keep whale sharks in captivity. The whale shark is a highly intelligent and sociable animal, has a migratory range of 13,000 km and can dive to 980 metres. Is it possible for any man made environment to cater to their requirements

Seeing this kind of momentum is exhausting but it keeps me moving when the task feels endless. I am grateful that so many people understand why these animals deserve the open ocean instead of a tank.

The silence from the authorities is deafening but it only confirms how much they want us to go away. I am spending my nights researching the physical requirements of these animals so I can confront the board with facts they cannot ignore. It is exhausting work but the thought of these sharks in small tanks keeps me going.

It's too cruel to keep whale shark in captivity. They need to space to grow and swim to be healthy. Keeping them in captivity is just similar to locking a human in an area as big as a toilet. If we can stand this, we shouldn't be doing that to them.

I once did a project on Whale sharks in like 2nd grade, and I have loved them since. They are just such beautiful creatures.

whale sharks on average are 61.7 feet and 41,000 pounds!! (18,597 kg) no way should these gentle giants be trapped away in a small habitat and neglected for eye candy, while they are gorgeous creatures that are nice to been seen up close, they thrive in there natural oceans and not in some small aquarium habitat where they can get super sick and die, shortening their population even more

if you wouldn't do it to your child, then don't do it to a shark's - or any other animal's for that matter.
