We have more than enough betting shops. Why doesn't this happen in Crouch End? Cynical exploitation of 'poorer' areas. Haringey council pls stand up for our local community!

The are is already suffering from a clustering of betting shops within an approx 400 metre radiues of Wood Green station. Included in the problems are crime, anti-social behaviour, harassment of residents, feeding gambling habits of those with an addiction, preying on a communities with high rates of poverty or those on low income. We do not want another betting shop. Please ALSO WRITE TO THE LICENSING TEAM, they need any objections sent directly to them for it to be counted.

Local families, young people and all residents have the right to walk that street and not be harassed. The current level of street drinkers, dealers and those loitering outside current betting premises is intolerable and yet planners see fit to spread this misery further towards dense residential areas whilst exploiting the most vulnerable in our community. This will cost residents, the police, the council, social care agencies and the NHS but Paddy Power won't be picking up the tab.

Betting Shops are a risk to many of the most vulnerable in our borough. The Campaign for Fairer Gambling estimates that in Haringey alone last year, machines in betting shops created losses amounting to £15 million. In the light of these statistics, I believe allowing another betting shop to open in this area would further encourage economic decline.

Another betting shop is at the bottom of the list of what residents want and need. It is either going to be filled with able bodied people gambling away money that should be used to provide for their families, or with drug dealers (as the betting shops near Turnpike Lane tube station demonstrate), or they will sit largely empty and unused given the extraordinary proliferation of gambling establishments or declining area has seen in recent years. Local officials should responsibly show some spine and for once say a firm 'No' to this application.

It is simply unnecessary to have yet another betting shop in such a small vicinity. This part of Lordship Lane is primarily a residential area NOT a busy high street. The area in question is a small arcade of shops, and the addition of this Paddy Power would mean the ratio of betting establishments would come close to outnumbering those for FOOD! What message does this send to vulnerable people in our community? How is this helpful or even deemed reasonable?

I often feel unsafe around the betting shops, the groups of men, often drunk that hang around outside make me feel vulnerable and unsafe. Please do not let another one open.

Betting shops add nothing to the community and feed off the poor. Please don't allow this to go ahead!

Our high streets are blighted by betting shops. There seems to be no limits to how many betting shops a small area can accommodate? Would it not be better to use shop spaces for the kind of goods or services that serve the whole community rather than a betting shop that makes the whole community poorer?
