There are already 2 betting shops along the same parade of shops, in addition there is already a Paddy Power 2 mins down the road, we don’t need any more. I don’t believe the change of use from a pub/restaurant to a betting shop should be allowed. This is a family neighbourhood and we would like shops and restaurants aimed at families. There is already a slightly intimidating vibe walking along that strip of shops, especially when people come and ask you for money, clearly to continue losing their money in the betting shops. There are schools and Chapmans Green near by and gambling shops do encourage antisocial behaviour. This potential change of us will further distant families from this area and increase the feelings of intimidation for local people. Paulas Deli has just opened along this stretch of shops providing a much needed improvement in the retail offering for locals, we want to continue to encourage this progress to improve the area not to go backwards by allowing another betting shop.

When the national media raise the issue of the proliferation of betting shops in poorer parts of the UK Tottenham is a foremost example. The plague of betting shops infesting our area is hateful. No more betting shops. These places a parasites and every shop front taken over by one is a somewhere that could house a local business. The proliferation of bookies is destroying our high streets and warping our communities.
