Senate Bill 270 is a ban that will remove single-use plastic bags from grocery stores. The bill was written by Senator Alex Padilla. The ban is expected to reduce the amount of plastic bags found in the ocean. People will be able to buy paper bags in stores for 10 cents. Those 10 cents will profit grocery stores and not go towards beach clean up like many think. Some cities have already banned plastic bags but the vote on November 8 will decide the fate of the whole state.

You should vote no because the dimes you pay when you buy plastic bags don't go towards environmental help, they only go to grocery stores for additional profit. Additionally, there are more than just plastic bags in the ocean. The bigger problem in the ocean is plastic fishing wire and plastic bottles. Finally, if the bags are actually banned, many hardworking people will lose their jobs since the plastic bag industry will fall.
