I am Ginger Thomas, a student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. After having grown up in Maui and watched the Maui County Counsel and Mayor Charmaine Tavares successfully ban single-use plastic bags, I believe that Santa Barbara County has the same potential. Especially in a coastal environment, the impact this waste has on our environment is even more extreme. Therefore, I ask that the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors and Mayor Randy Rowse develop an ordinance that places a ban on single-use plastic bags at all Santa Barbara County checkouts. This includes all grocery stores and commercial shopping. If you are in support of reducing plastics great harm to out environment and its inhabitants (both humans and animals), please consider signing.
Go to the beach anytime and you will see these bags everywhere. trash our oceans and kill animals for no reason. ban them already.
