Don't take away lanes from Norfolk's Hampton Blvd.

Definitely think it would be a huge mistake to remove any lanes on Hampton Boulevard.

Please do not close these necessary lanes!

The lanes on Hampton Blvd. should be left as they are, with no reduction in lanes. The bike lanes that have been placed around Norfolk are now currently a big eye sore. It’s ashame the bike lane design appears not very well thought out. The lane dividers could have been more attractive, and not already showing lots of wear and tear. The bike lane dividers are also great for collecting trash all around the dividers themselves.

Taking one lane away from Hampton Blvd is a ridiculous concept, especially when all other options haven't been explored. What about stoplight cameras, consistent police presence, etc.? And adding bike lanes is unnecessary and dangerous. I'm starting to think that the bike lanes aren't really a random afterthought but part of the actual goal to connect the rest of the Elizabeth River Trail. How did this project get this far without consulting with the local citizens FIRST???

Take big trucks off of Hampton Blvd instead!

Removal of one traffic lane on Hampton Blvd and replacing this with a bike lane is irresponsible, illogical, and dangerous. This adds the possibility for more accidents due to the increased congestion, which includes a significant amount of commercial (container) traffic, a vital economic mainstay, that being NIT.

Local traffic has already been crippled by thr barely used bike lanes - this additional strain would be a disaster!

To restrict traffic would be absurd. There is enough congestion as is.

The last thing needed would be to eliminate a lane. It would be a traffic nightmare.

I am opposed to a reduction of lanes on Hampton Blvd. Explore other safety options, such as enforcing existing speed limits and traffic signs. We currently face backed up rush-hour traffic on the bridge and the need to cut through neighborhood streets to reach our destinations. Cutting back lanes will further limit the ability for cars to travel through the area in a safe, timely way.

Insanity to do this.

Attracting biker traffic to Hampton Blvd. is irresponsible. Encouraging bikers vs 18 wheelers is crazy. Designing a bottleneck at ODU will extend the twice daily current jam north toward Jamestown Crescent & south to 21st Street concurrently driving N-S traffic to Powhatan and to an already disfunctional Colley. The city had to add a merge northbound approaching Jamestown to provide visibility to autos entering from Jamestown with the questionable decision to remove the light. Now add low-VI's bikers. The "serious accident" rationale is a red herring for the biker lobby. The city government and Council should be spending their time and our tax money fixing current broken city infrastructure, addressing sea rise and attracting commerce rather than special interest vanity projects.

Please do not take away lanes or narrow the road! One of many reasons: Three lanes are sometimes needed for safety when a semi veers outside his/her lane.

The city traffic is being choked by these lane modifications. Driving help apps such as WAZE are directing traffic off of major arteries and into neighborhoods which were at one time beautiful and safe to walk with children and pets, however, no longer. Property values continue to plunge in Norfolk thanks in part to the congestion created by this failed experiment. Simply put, real estate taxes will increase to offset revenue loss based on lower property values. I oppose this lane modification and recommend that we have improved police presence. Increase police compensation paid for with tax revenue keeping more force on the road. We are going to pay more in taxes, so compensate police adequately, and fill the empty billet's currently authorized. This will keep property values stable and our communities safe once more.

Bike lanes do not serve the majority of people. With colley ave already locked up by them they will make it harder to get to Norfolk sentara
