Don't take away lanes from Norfolk's Hampton Blvd.

I use hampton Blvd daily and have been for my entire adult life. I live in larchmont and feel taking away lanes will create a bottle neck of traffic. Speed enforcement for 18 wheelers and a possible lane restriction seems like a much better option. Tax money to create more under utilized bike lanes would go against what the citizens would like. I run in Norfolk daily and as I stated above drive the streets of Norfolk. I rarely see bikes using the bike lanes.

Hampton Blvd is already a parking lot most of the time. Creating hazards with a high volume of traffic cutting through Meadowbrook & delaying emergency vehicles LEAVE HAMPTON BLVD ALONE!!!

Decreasing car lanes will only cause more backups and cause more problems for our community. The accident that caused the crash at bolling was a trucker going over the speed limit on a relatively tight curve. Hold port truckers accountable for traffic offenses with camera issued tickets, fines to their employer, and similar mitigation tactics.

OMG I do not want to spend more time trying to get to class or home! Please do not remove a lane!!

The side of our house is on Hampton Boulevard. We are okay with the traffic, but hate the speeders. I was almost hit by a school bus that hopped the curb when I was walking home from LES( I was walking on the sidewalk). Removing lanes will push traffic into the neighborhood anytime there is a backup. I’ve seen that happen anytime there is utility work. We had a college student hit on his bike on one of those days. Remember what it was like before the midtown tunnel expansion. People used to cut through West Ghent to get to the front of the line. Also, will this degrade our relationship with NOB? We could have lost NAS Oceana during Brac due to the encroachment of houses. NO LANE CLOSURES!

Stop the bike lane madness.

Please do not reduce the lanes on Hampton Blvd. it is a dangerous street for bikes to be traveling on no matter how the lanes are configured.

Keep 3 lanes!

I am an avid bike rider, and must say Norfolk has plenty of bike lanes already. Hampton Blvd is the busiest Street in the city, and to add bike lanes defies logic. We also widened the roads 15+ years ago, now go in reverse! Suggest a light before the curve on the southbound side. Maybe flashing lights, rumble strips, something to force a slow down. Good luck.

I suggest trucks leaving NIT not be allowed to use Hampton blvd. That would greatly reduce the traffic and differential speed. I believe it is a terrible idea to reduce lanes.

Question any claim that this bike lane would be used more than the third car lane

Just a really dumb idea. Goes against all common sense. Put some of those bumpy white lines close to that bend by Bolling...something visual where they start far apart and get closer together

Please don’t reduce lanes. We do not need a bike lane on Hampton Boulevard. Consider more police presence instead. This may actually bring in revenues vs an unwanted expense that will make bad traffic even worse.

The bike lane situation is out of control!! Council needs to listen the city has a whole not a dozen hobby bikers.

Norfolk needs LESS bike lanes
