I strongly object to the opening of Manston as a cargo hub. Is the plan even credible. I find it hard to believe that a plan fronted by a disgraced & struck off solicitor with a history of air related business failures representing a business without any experience of running an airport could be given any credibility.

I object very strongly to the proposed re-opening of Manston Airport as a freight hub and particularly to the number of night flights which are proposed. I am concerned about the pollution and its effect on residents over a wide area, especially its detrimental effect on children. Noise will cause disruption of residents' sleep, and the scheme would generate a horrendous amount of traffic, not just in Kent but on the roads around London, especially the M25 as cargo is moved to and from destinations all over the country by road.. |It will also have a negative effect on tourism in Herne Bay, Birchington, Minnis Bay, Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs. I also feel that it is not economically or environmentally viable to have a freight hub in the far south eastern corner of the country -- surely the centre of the country, near Birmingham or Manchester would be a much more sensible location for a "hub". I am totally against night flights from Manston as I feel the likely 80 decibel noise will be highly detrimental to the health of all those living near and around the airport. This is Not a suitable area for a freight airport running 24/7.

environmentally not a good idea due to increase in heavy lorries therefore more pollution and traffic congestion. noise levels would be harmful to residents and wildlife. the site would be better suited to small industries and housing/schools/surgeriesetc as these are much needed in the area.

To have a cargo hub on the edge of Britain so that all the freight has to be moved across the entire country largely by road, makes absolutely no sense economically or environmentally. If a large new cargo hub is needed (which I doubt having read the various reports) it should be placed nearer the centre of the country, ideally near Birmingham or Manchester, but almost anywhere would be better than Kent logistically.

There is no justifiable reason to affect the health and well being of large numbers of residents residing in Ramsgate,the Thanet villages and Herne Bay by allowing scheduled night flights.

I live 8 miles from Manston in Beltinge, exactly under the thin line of the landing flightpath where all planes coming in to land at Manston will fly right over my house at about 2500 ft. I am prepared to accept this during the day because I believe the airport will create much needed jobs in this area. Night flights however are a totaly different matter. Humans need quiet to get a good nights sleep. There are laws to help us get a good night's sleep such as not beeping your car hooter between 11:30pm and 7am and no construction noise is allowed between 8pm - 7am. Both of these noises would be tiny compared to a 747 coming in to land! I will help fight this cause in any way I can. Scheduled night flights are morally completely wrong. They are trying to make more money at the cost of preventing thousands of people having a good night's sleep.

Far from the increase of jobs offered by the reopening of Manston jobs will be lost by the hospitality industry in Thanet with the reduction of visitors to the area.

I know exactly what it is like to live close to an airport and how ones sleep patterns are drastically disturbed by low flying aircraft taking off and landing during the hours of darkness. Flights should be restricted to those hours that do not disturb people's sleep and ultimately, health!

It seems that the people who are not on the flight path, like Windy Gale's lot, don't give a monkeys for the good folk of Ramsgate. The ultimate answer would be a referendum for the people of Ramsgate only. That could sort it out.
