It's our community, our school, our alumni who determines our schools fate. Dr. Barrow was a phoenominal woman, and her efforts to raise the voices of african-american Chicagoians are unpresidentented, however, we the alumni of South Shore I'ntl HS chooses to maintain our identity as we know it for the future generations to come.

I used to be in the PUSH choir, 1965 - 1969. I remember Rev. Barrows. She was a dynamic lady.

I graduated from South Shore High School. This school and it's name are part of this neighborhoods identity. If you want to change the name to a distinguished person why not choose someone who live and worked in our community. Better yet, why change it at all. This seems like an arbitrary move. I will fight this as long as I have breath. Having worked in the news media all over this nation I know how to wage a media campaign that will not only stop this plan but bring a bright light on those trying to railroad it through and their motives. I believe that if it ain't broke don't fix it. Why divide a community and change one of the few traditions and landmarks in South South. In doing so you put another nail in the community's coffin of existence. Sincerely, Roy Hobbs Class of 1971

I am extremely against renaming my high school which not only represents some of the most positive and substantive years of my life, but the name South Shore also represents the neighborhood where I and many of my classmates grew up. I am sure there are other, more fitting tributes to honor Ms. Barrow.

Proud Alumni, please find another school for Rev. Barrow, perhaps a grammar school near Operation Push.
