Final supporters
All DJs have been told to play clean music for our 2k17 Homecoming Skate Party and the Ultimate Kickback to end the week. If this is the case, many newer songs will not be played because they simply have not been cleaned yet. This is a petition to allow DJs to play uncensored music at our homecoming parties. These are events for the students and should cater to what the students want. Students let your voices be heard.

I honestly cannot believe how many people have jumped on this board because I really thought nobody else cared about the playlist as much as I did. It is wild seeing everyone sync up like this and I am starting to think the administration might actually have to listen to us for once since this energy is just impossible to ignore.

Artists make the songs as they intend for them to be played. It is a disservice to rewrite their art.
Homecoming is a student activity, made possible by our student activity fee that the student government association then budgets, and should therefore cater to the students.
HBCU homecoming is about reliving the old days and reuniting with old friends. Getting hype and just having fun. Can’t have fun to clean music, let the DJs play “dirty” music.
I believe that we are grown in this environment and over the age of 18. I feel that for homecoming the DJs should be able to play whatever type of music with or without profanity (up to their choice). There are certain songs that can’t be found as a clean version that are part of the “culture”. I vouch for this petition because we already have so many restrictions on other things related to homecoming, the least you can do is allow whatever type of music the students like. I don’t understand the purpose that playing clean music does for student life. We are COLLEGE students not children under the age of 10. Faculty, staff and students already curse on their own so how does the music change that?
I support this petition as a student leader for several years. With us already not having a concert, I think it's imperative that we are still able to play up-to-date music. Homecoming is a fun time, and we should find ways to embrace it rather than limiting it.
We are all adults. I believe the students should be able to vote on such manners before they are blatantly passed by administration

I understand this rule was probably created in the name of respectability so that more conservative alumni can continue to contribute to Fisk’s funding, but it’s time for Fisk to stop fighting the progressive nature of its students.
