You'll have to admit that the Security Council play a big role in international politics and therefore affects us all. So why should the Council be run by only five countries? China, France, Russia, The United Kingdom and The United States all have veto rights in the Security Council and they are also the only permanent members. This goes against one of the most important thing The UN stands for, which is democracy. The UN is an international organization which should represent the whole world, not just five countries.
Dag Hammarskjöld, a former Secretary-General of the United Nations, argued that the UN was the small states protector. The UN will never become the protector of small states if the small states don't get a say questions of maintenance of international peace and security.
