We, the undersigned, are very concerned about the overuse of powerful psychotropic medications that are being prescribed to children in New York. Some children are taking large dosages and are on multiple medications that are not FDA approved for children. Many children are so over-drugged that they are unable to function and their future health may be very negatively affected. We encourage the NYS Office of Mental Health and NYS Department of Health to educate physicians, enforce pertinent regulations, and propose necessary legislation to end this very dangerous practice.
