PROPOSED MID-CURRITUCK BRIDGE

NO BRIDGE! The cost is way too high and there will still be miles of traffic backing up on Hwy12 through Duck. Widen 12.

Please do not ruin our peaceful community for the sake of money!!! Hurricane evacuation is in no danger if people need the warnings!!

Terrible Idea all the way around.

As many have stated, this bridge is not needed for emergency evacuation as stated. We always have plenty of notice. There were five sites surveyed, 4 of which would have had no impact to the Aydlett community. But the Aydlett site was selected for some reason which will destroy this community. Additionally, the county already has a right-of-way in place for the ferry and it would have had the least impact. Use that lane for the bridge and connect Knotts Island with the mainland. There are just so many other good options other than destroying a historic neighborhood, disrupting wildlife, and causing traffic jams at both ends of this proposed route. Please look at other options or no Mid-Currituck bridge at all.

To whom it may concern, My name is Aaron Mathews. I lived in Aydlett my entire life, as well as my family has been here Four Generations. I’m writing to be against the bridge coming. My reasoning’s being… 1. The Hurricane BS should not be a factor. The weather channels give ALL of us plenty of time to leave if we choose to. 99% of the time there is a “mandatory evacuation” set in place, days before. Plenty of time to get from Corolla, to the mainland! 2. I’m in charge of a state “ adopt the highway” program. We cover what we call Swamp Road. SR 1140 Aydlett Road. We pick up LOTS of trash each year our our 4 mandatory pick ups. So much so, we have to plan more pickups. This is just from our little community. My Question is this. Who’s going to pick up all the trash in the swamp, from all the cars going over the new bridge? Not to mention, in the Currituck Sound! With 1000’s of vehicles crossing daily! I make a living in these swamps in Aydlett, and I hate to see wildlife suffer from pollution! 3. Again, as a local. It’s going to be an eyesore! Our quiet town ruined by greed! The county should be dead set on stopping this, but love that greedy money from Corolla. 4. And the most important! The migration of the Atlantic Flying of waterfowl. It’s going to change the flight of the sound. (Not so much of the flyway) The studies need to be done locally. How birds go from point A, to point B locally! The birds that visit Mackeys Island, roost just south in the Narrows. As well as the divers traveling the sound. Thanks Aaron Mathews

We stand strongly against the connection bridge through Aydlett to Corolla.

No bridge

It will destroy the wildlife. What is this going to do to the wild horses. Every vacationer is going to take this bridge and then you will have a traffic back up from Corolla through Duck to the light in Southern Shores and then traffic backed up to get on this bridge. Vacationers don’t care about the signs just like the big flashing signs that say “Don’t turn at the KH school” it’s only for residents. They still do and make a mess of residents neighborhoods. That’s exactly what will happen. NO BRIDGE!

Re-consideration to not continue with the project of installment of a bridge in the northern outer banks should be highly considered due to the capacity of the infrastructure that is currently there seems overcrowded in season and an additional route /bridge would not just alleviate the current traffic seen but add additional traffic due to ease of access which would not be productive for the area communities or environment . The area should be protected without change to the environment also due to the State Horse - the Wild Spanish Banker horses that the northern outer banks serves as their home . The wild horses have been driven out of some of their environment further North some twenty years ago and further building in the area would potentially be further detrimental to this State treasure and legend. I choose to pay the price of having to travel further to get to where I can call a piece of the northern OBX home as well as having to travel further to access to health care in the area and common goods / needs . I vote NO for the mid Currituck bridge .

Will disturb migrants of tundra swans that rest in this area ever winter.

Our infer structure is not able to handle the bridge.

We don’t want our Beautiful peaceful neighborhood to become a eyesore with a lot of noise the bridge will bring and that isn’t mentioning the trash and the increase in criminal activity

Please don’t ruin the town of Aydlett, we moved here for the wildlife and severity.

This will be so devastating to the Currituck Sound.

I oppose the bridge and own 6 + properties in Currituck .

I am directly in the path of the bridge, I don't want to lose my home of 12 years
