Flying as well as being damaging contributes to inequality A tiny minority of people take most of the flights but we all bear the environmental cost of their behaviour.

We need to hold people who claim to care about the environment and C02 emissions accountable as if they take several flights a year, the evidence would indicate their "concern" isn't real.

I have chosen not to fly for over 8 years. I take the train (excellent routes through Europe), or cycle, and have loved spending holidays in the UK.

I'm committed to flying only if it is a (family) emergency. I've been using ferry and train from Dublin for last ten years to Helsinki, Lisbon, Athens, etc., etc. Happy to advise on this form of travel. Start with www.seat61.com

I make one return flight a year to Ireland and now, I'll be doing that by ferry. Slow travel is all part of the experience!

The last time I flew on an aeroplane was in 2004, and I don’t intend to ever fly again. It’s not a right to travel the world, and with the technology we have today, we can discover places all over the planet, catch up with loved ones and have business meetings all from the comfort of our own homes. Try the Footprint Calculator from the Global Footprint Network to measure what impact you’ll have by not flying!

I make a commitment to fly only when it is absolutely unavoidable. So hopefully never again.

Well done for starting this. Flying is a privilege not a right and needs to be withdrawn for all but essential purposes. If we don't do that we have no hope of dealing with this emergency

I’m actually migrating from Scotland to Perth, Australia in April 2019 but fully intend to do this by land and sea. I believe I can do this! Ian @ www.resfebertravelblog.com

Not flying is one of the top things we individuals can do to address climate change. If 10,000 people pledge to stay grounded in 2019, imagine the impact!

At the end of 2019 I'll have been flight-free for 10 years. So many beautiful places still to visit in this continent.

This is an easy life style change compared to what climate change will require if politicians don't act NOW!

I've not been on a plane since 2007 because of the impact flying has on climate change.

Only had one trip by plane since 2007. We need to keep our feet on the ground and fly a bit more with our imaginations. Imagine how amazing this world can be when we all respect and truly love this wonderful planet with our every action.

I stopped flying in 2000, isn't it time you did too? For example, one flight transatlantic there and back emits more carbon PER PASSENGER than the average family car does in a year.

Haven't been on a plane since 2014

Haven't flown since 2015 and don't plan to fly anywhere anytime soon. Too damaging for the environment.
