I haven't flown since 1997 and I have a great life. About 99% of flights are 'wants' not 'needs'. The only flights I can think of which are needs are when an emergency casualty needs to be flown to hospital to save their life. Lives are important, and flying is killing people. We need to *DRASTICALLY* cut our carbon, and flying has no place in a truly sustainable society.

I am not going to fly anymore as long as there is no real carbon-neutral way to do so, even if that won't happen in my lifetime.

I think it's 12 years since I last flew anywhere. Hard for people who take flying for granted to give it up. I don't have family far away, Michaels it easier. Individual actions aren't enough, of course, but they mount up.

Gave up flying in 2006. Travel a lot by train. Will never get to India again unless I go overland. Ah well. Plenty of other amazing places to see...

I just finished a brilliant course on climate change denial (https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:UQx+Denial101x+3T2018/course/). Which means I have no excuse left to continue my enjoyable lifestyle as an intrepid globe trotter by means of air travel. I will continue to pursue my favourite past-time by means of travelling on boats, trains or busses, or preferably, on my touring cycle!

Living in New Zealand I can't take the train to visit other countries. I hope I don't get invited to a wedding overseas this year! Would this count as "love miles"?

There is no real need to be there, if there is way away. Call or make a video conference.
