Say NO to Fishing Charges on Minehead & Watchet Harbour

Young people and those less able bodied fish piers as easy access to deep water, this charge will stop these people fishing and will have a detrimental effect on both their lives and that of the wider community in the long term

Can't believe anyone on the Council could suggest this!

Charging to fish on these harbours is a joke it going to make Minehead a worst place than it already is

What a ridiculous idea. Typical West Somerset Council dreaming up crackpot ideas to raise funds to counteract the ridiculous miss spending of our taxes. Shortsighted in the extreme as many local businesses will ultimately suffer.

Shameful proposed action, trying to tax an outdoor hobby that teaches respect for the environment, keeps kids off the streets and brings in money to the local community.

Dont keep penalising the local community and the disabled with your rediculous money grabbing schemes and start looking at the bigger long term picture

My father and his brother use this venue regularly as they are elderly and find it the easiest place for them to enjoy their favourite hobby. Please don’t make them pay for a privilege that has been free for all of their lives!

If this bizarre ruling is sanctioned it will drive tourists and anglers alike away and will discourage young anglers from learning to fish. The sea isn't owned by anybody it belongs to the land just as the fish do. These councillors have nothing better to do then make money from people enjoying themselves. It's bad enough they charge extortionate parking rates in these areas

I fish for free but won't pay any charge for using harbour wall fro fishing that in turn will hit local tackle shop as i will buy online and go elsewhere and i often use the cafe too so it will hit local busiiness as i know others dop as well. on top of that I bring my learning difficulties guys fishing here as it's accessable for them, they cant fish from the stone nor the sand but they won't be paying for what is a free hobby so guess they wont get to go out as often as will have to go further afield

I am against the charging for fish both walls

I Fish minehead harbour and won't pay any charge that in turn will hit local businesses as I often buy from tackle store and cafe which i just wont bother anymore with tackle & bait online. on top of that I bring my learning difficulties guys that I look after fishing here none of which are able to walk over the stone or fish from the sand the Harbour walls give them a lot of pleasure and a hobby that gets them out. I wont fish and they won't be either.

I’ve fished minehead wall for last five years so no we don’t want to pay now , pier fishing is free to everyone to enjoy

This charge is completely unenforceable.

This will ruin your local trade, fuel, food, bait. The average person will spend £30 per session in your town, but you will push that spending elsewhere through your stupidity and short sightedness.

I am registered disable this is out ragious and against the disabilities act .i will take legal advice on this and if allowed by law

Discriminating against local business, the young, the elderly and less able. Do Watchet and Minehead really want to become identified as this kind of place for a holiday?

The harbour is a perfect place to introduce people to angling promote safety and responsibility charging will drive them onto beaches which can be more dangerous and will have a noticeable impact on tourism which will impact businesses in the harbour area

Don’t take this freedom away from future and present anglers it will be the worst mistake you ever make
