Freedom to fish from our public shores as per Magna Carta. We already [pay Council Tax so this is just another income generating stealth tax on mainly working class fishermen/women

I travel from Wiltshire to fish the harbour and shore line. I pay for B&B and purchase food for lunches supporting the minehead economy. Guess I move down to Dorset Chesil beach.

Councils should be looking at ways of promoting the usage of already limited free public spaces not seeking to profit from access. A wholey uninclusive proposal as these areas are used by the young, disabled and elderly. Anglers shouldnt be persecuted for there hobby nor ability to walk miles.

I cannot see how this is going to work, it will stop kids enjoying learning to fish, people who are less able, and anyone on a tight budget, at the end of the day some people will just fish off the beach or they will just go elsewhere which will hit the local shops, very short sighted.

Often fish these venues with disabled angler's as they can not fish on the beaches.....this policy would clearly discrininate the disabled who would have no option but to pay if they wish to fish....

Absolutely awful..... been a few years since I fished either venue, I remember paying for the pleasure of using the toilets at Watchet which I thought fair, as out of season they were still open. Minehead has always held a special place in my heart as a fishing venue , as in I’ve seen many disabled people/ less abled people fishing as it’s easily accessible.... Why is their a need too charge now , when it’s been free for all too enjoy for lots of years.......

This isn't going to help youngsters to take an interest in the sport.

We should be trying to attract people, not put them off, what about Dads with their kids? Also who's going to collect it?

Councils charging because no funds from government is not acceptable...anglers dont create wear and tear etc and bring tourism to the pier...we buy coffees sandwiches etc another unthought out cheap way to rob the public.

I feel charging to fish the piers will gain little in the way of revenue. What it will do is annoy and inconvenience the young and less mobile anglers who currently enjoy visiting these piers.
