FORCE LEGISLATION FOR 2010- -- NO TOLERANCE DWI LAW-- SIGN THIS PETITION

How many more innocent lives have to be taken before New Mexico Legislators see that we have a problem here. An enourmous DWI/DUI issue here in the land of enchantment. Yet during the 2010 Legislature they refused to tax alcohol. Any discussion on maximum jail time for first time offenders was tabled in the 2010 Legislature as it would cost the state too much money to house first time offenders. New Mexico State Police Statistics state that in 2008: 3,525 DWI arrest were made in 12 Districts of New Mexico, resulting in 143 fatalities. New Mexico State Police Statistics state that in 2009: 4,182 DWI arrest were made in 12 Districts in New Mexico. We have yet to get the fatalities number. Here are some useful links to learn more about problems with DWI facing the state of New Mexico. Please go, learn, educate others. Have a drink, get a Designated Driver, a cab, stay home. Please don't drink and drive. http://www.nmshtd.state.nm.us/stopdwi/ http://dwiresourcecenter.org/ http://www.unm.edu/~dgrint/dgr.html As with anything in this world, nothing changes without a voice. Please write our state officials. It seems they have no desire to change anything without the citizens of New Mexico raising our voices. We have to raise them loud, and yet even louder because we are not being heard. Your life, my life, your children lives, your family lives, friends lives , neighbors lives , co-workers lives all depend on it. Please help. Sign this petition. Enough is enough. My cousin was killed by a drunk driver in abq and it feels like the system does nothing at all. Change the laws now.

Every time I drive at night I am terrified. These people keep getting back on the road and nothing happens to them. Disgusting state of affairs.

If they can afford to build new sports stadiums they can afford to keep these criminals in jail. Priorities people

Finally someone is doing something about this. My heart breaks for all those families who lost someone because of a selfish idiot behind the wheel.
