Please Help Save NOAA's Teacher At Sea Program 2015

I am a 14 year old student in an Oceanography club that wouldn't exist without the teacher at sea program. Because of living in Arizona, we don't see the ocean, this is our only chance to explore 70% of the world! This is a valuable program that needs to continue to educate the rest of the world about the ocean, a seemingly infinite world that so many people do not get the chance to see.

I am 13 years old and I am in an Oceanography Club. I am visiting and studying the ocean thanks to my science teacher who was inspired by 'Teachers at Sea'. Please don't stop this program so more kids like me can learn more about the ocean.

I'm 13 and I'm in an oceanography club that was started by a teacher that took part in this program, and without her doing this program I would not be able to learn so much about the ocean even though I live in Arizona which is far from water!

Hello, I am student of the age of thirteen. My eight grade science teacher went in one of your trips, which spurred her enthusiasm toward the program. Because of her excitement toward the subject, she began an oceanography club, which I and many others take part in.

I am currently in an oceanography class. The was taught by NOAA. Therefore, NOAA should not be eliminated, because it helps others get new chances and learn new material.

I am so very grateful for the experience of participating in a clam survey for Teacher at Sea. It was an incredible chance to assist a scientist. The experienced enriched my K-4 science lessons in marine biology, oceanography, ecology and evolution.

The Teacher at Sea Program is an essential program that benefits numerous classrooms all over the ocuntry It provides one of the few venues for students to experience authentic science.

I was a Teacher at Sea on cruises in the Aleutian Islands and the Indian Ocean. The lesson plans I created are used in my classes to engage students and many of the exercises are used in my lab classes. This is a valuable program for teachers and their students and should be continued.

I have been on two cruises with the Teacher at Sea program and I loved every minute of it ( in the early 2000's). I took videos of my experiences, and showed them to my chemistry and physical science classes for over 7 years. I have showed these videos to my voting friends and sang the praises of NOAA each and very time. I have passed out over 500 of the Teacher at Sea books to local students in the Dearborn Heights, MI area in which I live and to the students of Sea Camp, Galveston, TX. Also, the general good will that this generates is invaluable. I hope this program continues for years and years to come. Ron Ferenczi, [email protected]

I had the unique opportunity to participate in Teacher @ Sea in Summer 2013. It was unforgettable. I hope more teachers have the chance to experience Teacher @ Sea in the future.

I was one of the TAS participants (1991). The experience enriched my life and my teaching for the next twenty years. Lack of money, increase in testing and dwindled the amount of experiences kids can have through school. TAS provides the teacher with an experience that can enrich his/her classroom for many years to come. Please continue this important aspect of science education!

NOAA"s Teacher at Sea program was one of the few professional opportunities that I had as a teacher that really gave me the experiences to be able to answer my students when they would ask, "when will I ever need to know this?" American teachers need these experiences, doing real science, to ensure that our next generation of students are competitive in the global market.
