I think this is a disgraceful policy. There are many other policies that could be put in place that would provide the same level of protection. It is disgusting to expect expectant mothers to give birth alone, especially first time mothers. It's a worrying enough time as it is without having the support of their birthing partner. I can't imagine the extra stress will be good for the mothers or the unborn babies. Not to mention, denying expectant father's the experience of those precious moments. Only a person who has never experienced becoming a parent themselves could enforce this modern day barbarism on a newly expanding family.

Birthing partners improve women's mental health and help her relax in labour. No birthing partner will lead to an increase in risky interventions for both mum and baby.

Women need doulas or (and) husband to protect them from obstetric violence in hospitals. It is much more likely that a doctor has corona than the doula or husband. So better reduce the number of doctors in birth room. A normal birth doesn´t need a doctor anyway.
