A toll would have an incredibly depressing effect on commerce due to the psychological barrier, not to mention an actual financial barrier, to travel to the Island by non TI residents.
It would also create a type of prison effect on the half of the island residents that lives at the poverty level.
Lastly, it's an insult to the last bastion of local hard working blue collar folks who don't have to commute 2 hours to get to San Francisco Francisco is slowly driving away its work force.
This is just one more example of a callous disregard of elitists making policies that are certain to create a gated community environment, which otes getting harder and harder to believe that isn't their actual intention.

Not only are they charging they're also replacing the parking spaces with meters, and they're not charging toll on the weekends when the most visitors come to the Island.

Living on TI 16 years i drive kids and grandkids to work and school everyday making 3 roundtrips daily before 9:30am. Then back to work

People on Treasure Island already have to pay the bridge toll if they want to go to the East Bay. They don't need yet another thing to pay for in a economy where most people are scraping by.
