No to any toll to use the recreational facilities on treasure island. I am a windsurfer and this would be cost prohibitive to access the windsurfing launch with bay bridge and golden gate bridge tolls already

This is the equivalent of an unlawful rent increase for existing Treasure Island residents. Some of us have lived here for more than a decade, and car transit has become integral to many of our lives. Asking us to fundamentally change our way of life or face what amounts to a 30% rent increase (based on average cost to rent a bedroom and potentially $200/mo in tolls) is unacceptable. It’s not as if this is one road to get to the island. This is the ONLY road. We are not free to move elsewhere, because our rent control is the only thing that kept cost of living reasonable in the Bay Area. If traffic is the concern, then exempt all current Treasure Island residents — who number only around 1,500 — and charge the toll only to visitors and the 20,000 new residents, who will be moving here with that expectation. Making people apply for exemptions based on income is also unacceptable, because rent control laws are supposed to apply to everyone.

I have lived on Treasure Island for almost 3 years. I am reliant on my car to get to work. I work in nonprofit and live paycheck to paycheck. Please allow all current residents a break from this new toll. At the bare minimum give current residents one free round trip per day, not just those from before 2011.

I will be forcibly removed from my apartment when the new housing is built because I moved here in 2013. I have to use a car for work. This adds insult to injury.

Fantastic, insightful and accurate comments throughout these first 18 hours! Thank you! If we focus on this issue just for a few days by forwarding the petition to as many people as we know and ask them to do the same, we will get the signatures we need to stop this ill fated proposal. If we remain silent or turn belligerent we'll miss the bus - pardon the pun - get hit with these new tolls, and we will end up paying for something that will take many years to complete, which should have been available a long time ago: Reliable, complete and reasonable public transportation. Most of all, nobody should be asked to pay a toll to go to work, shopping or doing errands within their own city.

I moved to Treasure Island (for the 3rd time) after 2011. That means I will be unceremoniously evicted from the island with no recourse when the time comes to tear down the old navy housing. Let me get this straight - I'm supposed to pay a toll to build the transit infrastructure for the people who are eventually going to displace me? WTF?? I'm considered low income in SF, as far as I'm concerned this is a poor tax!

Wow...this is analogous to gerrymandering and suppressing black/low-income votes! Having lived on TI years ago, I know that TI has a good percentage of low and middle-income folks, and forcing them to pay toll to drive in/out of that area is such a horrible idea!
