New Utility Poles on S. Lakeshore Road in Chelan This petition has been created in order to enable public dissent to the plan by the Chelan PUD to replace, rather than bury, existing utility poles on S. Lakeshore Road in Chelan with new utility poles. Ones that will last 30-50 years. The preferred and future-looking plan is to bury utility lines underground. This has been done in Manson, other parts of Washington state, and throughout the USA. The benefits include: - it protects and preserves the landscape on the most beautiful lake in the world - it protects against utility outages due to storms and other natural disasters - it preserves property values - it reduces maintenance costs for the PUD The District is directed by a five-member board of commissioners elected by the voters of Chelan County. These commissioners oversee a utility system that now includes local water, wastewater and wholesale fiber-optic services in addition to electricity.
