Please don't ruin what makes Spurn great by dumping a visitors' centre into a rich wildlife area. It's hard to believe the YWT would ever consider this. This isn't about birders' whinging at increased footfall, it's about preventing an own goal by ruining the entire atmosphere of the area.

I too have cancelled my membership for YWT. I do not want to be conected to an organization who is hell bent on destroying an area of beauty.Spending money that is meant to be for the local community.I hope this Folly comes back to bite those who orchestrated this foolish venture.

Consider that not only will the building destroy the very environment YWT. Are charged with protecting . Also the building of this centre would cause , destroy unique land and habit heavy machinery delivery. Building tarmacing noise a car park and centre can only benefit the finances of the organisation.
I am strongly against this proposal to build .

The position of this centre hasnot been thought through as there is an open field next door which could be used and would not disturb the wildlife which is whar yorkshire wildlife trust is supposed to support.

Over past 30 years i have lived in the parish of Easington and YWT and all the wildlife organisations down at Spurn and Kilnsea and there goverment quangoes have opposed any development of the kilnsea and Easington area, where are Natural England ? they seem to stick there noses into things where they are not welcome and make life difficult for any development that could affect natural habitat where are they on this one.
This two storey visitors centre doesnt even try to blend in with its surroundings to make less of an impact which was one of the arguments YWT had against the proposed new caravan site at kilnsea some years ago.
A press release by YWT stated there are tens of thousands of visitors each year to Spurn Point where did these figures come from, there are very few visitors to the Spurn now the road has eroded away,
To me since the road dissapeared and the revenue from the toll onto to spurn dissapeared YWT now have to find revenue to pay its way in other ways. The light house has been given a large grant for renovation, nobody can get there unless you walk all the way down or pay £10.00 to be transported down on the infrequent transport, another white elephant that will attracted grants from various sources for maintainance.
This visitors centre will be a white elephant unable to fund its self and will also have to rely on goverment grants.

Why spoil an area that is visited and enjoyed by thousands every year - leave well alone. The addition of this visitor centre will add nothing to this important migration area.

I am shocked that Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is not seizing the opportunity to return this unique headline to the habitat that is so important for diversity of wildlife. Particularly when there are viable alternatives as a location for the visitor centre. Get your priorities right YWT.

Absolute waste of money, as original information and visitor centre is adequate or can be extended on site. People will be ripped off as have visitors to Spurn for years have, with car admission charge and not even a toilet at the end when you get there.
