No to the plans destroying the character of the historic centre of Olhão in Portugal

I holiday in Olhao 2-3 times a year & the reason is the way it has retained its character unlike Faro & the West Algarve. It would be a disaster for the area.

The historic centre of Olhao has a unique character and is a very precious part of Portugal's cultural heritage.

Please don't allow this renewal of the old town to go ahead. We have been visiting this town for many years because it remains unspoilt.

Stop!, once such a town is changed it's impossible to go back

Tem que ser preservada a identidade dos centros históricos do Algarve!!! Basta de aberrações urbanísticas.

O que levou centenas de anos a construir pelo povo de Olhão não pode agora ser destruído em meses por um presidente de Câmara sem visão, em nome de uma pretensa "regeneração urbana"!

Do not destroy Olhão!

As alterações propostas descaracterizam por completo a arquitectura única da nossa cidade. Preservar é respeitar a memória colectiva e a identidade de um povo. Preservar deverá ser sempre a palavra de ordem em qualquer intervenção que se proponha para o centro histórico da cidade.

I am strongly concerned about these plans, that appear to have not reached the right level of maturity and go against modern best-practice of conserving cultural heritage. As a tourist, if these plans were to be implemented, there would be very little chance I would return again.

I am strongly concerned that this is the right step to modern Olhao and make it a unique pearl at Algarve. I am a modern person and therefore not automatically against new things. I also agree to the idea to cure Olhao. However, it should be done with responsibility to what makes Olhao unique and keep this: modern existing building the way they have been in the past, support local trade carefully without inviting all the international companies which are found everywhere (ZARA, H&M, Bershka, etc.), strengthen local people and turn the baixa into a place for people and not for cars. kind regards Viktor Riemer

To stand on the rooftop of a house in Olhao, with this beautiful view, is one of the best things I have ever seen. It gives the feeling of freedom close to the sky. Please save this treasure for the historic centre of Olhao.

I recently visited Olhao and was very impressed by the beautiful historic centre and the wonderful markets. The charm of the place would be ruined by the proposed redevelopment.

Por favor não muda o centro histórico de Olhão. Temos preservar o que é historia e alterar e implementar alterações mais modernos vai estragar o caracteristico da cidade que os pessoas gostam (incl. os estrangeiros).
