I was planning to visit Olhao, but I am not interested if there wouldn't be an historic part anymore. We have enough ugly and new buildings everywhere.

In full agreement with the petition. We don't want another villamoura, this is one working fishing town and it should remain that way. The expats living here are here because it is the way it is.

We are proud of Olhao because of the very charm that it has now. Funds should be used to restore the calcadas, keeping them in good condition, not remove them. They are so much easier to lift and replace when work need to be done on the infrastucture below ground, so much easier then concrete and slabs. Lisbon has spent millions of euros restoring the calcadas in the city, why??? because they are part of the heritage of Portugal as a whole. We do not need a tower, we already have one at the church. The old style lighting in the town need renovation not replacement. The Recreativo near the church is ripe for restoration to convert into a cultural centre, what a stunning building it is, the Camara must be crazy not to see that. Coaches come from the west coast by the hundreds to see Olhao and show the tourists what the Algarve once looked like before it was destroyed in places like Albufeira. The Camara must listen to the people and to reason or they and all of us residents here in Olhao will be the losers, forever.

Do not allow António Pina to destroy our city. Tourists love Olhão because it is different, with history and tradition. This should be preserved not demolished to make way for inappropriate development.

The beautiful town of Olhão has already been 'vandalised' by hideous stone paving slabs in the square leading to the market, and in other once lovely corners. Horrible modern lighting and ugly stone benches have added to the damage....people have to stop the rot now or there will be less and less to save and treasure.
