Visitors to Olhao come to this town because of it's authentic Portuguese style, To turn into a modern 'the same as everywhere else' type of town would loose jobs and businesses to the fast food chains obviously affecting the local inhabitants.

A história não se vende nem se abandona e deve ser partilhada e vivida por todos os que a construíram e vão construindo - há que lutar e resistir porque a mudança só é ganho se for inteligente e sustentada!

Compramos nuestra casa en Olhao porque disfrutabamos mucho de todo lo antiguo de esta ciudad. Modernizarla creo que es preservarla, limpiarla y mantenerla, además de favorecer a los propietarios con subvenciones para mantener su bellisimo e inigualable caserío. No creo que modernizarla sea destruirla.

It must be stopped. It's a ridiculous plan and will spoil a beautiful, traditional town - modern is not always good!

please leave the centre like it was before, specially the little bricks on the floor and old Arabic houses and trees in parks.

protect the original charm of this small city in the Algarve.

We bought our small house in the cold part of olhao specifically because olhao is not a vilamoura type of resort/town. It retains a wonderfully Portuguese atmosphere with traditional houses . Small cafes and fabulous markets. Don't change it.

Please dont destroy the beautiful old center of Olhao. I have run barefooted on the authentic calcadas many many times doing my morning jogging. I loved the light stones and the patterns. The stones felt soft under my skin. Please leave the calcadas. They will last another century at least.

Change is inevitable. But vandalism and greed are sins. Olhão's charm is in her authenticity. To alter this artificially as these plans would is to rob her of her charm, her flavour and her future.

NO to the plans destroying Olhao.

I know Olhao from 20 years now. I saw it changed, evoluate. Evolution is fine, but complete transformation is bad and artificial. The Baixa neighborhood certainly needed rehabilitation and the fact that Olhao attracts more foreigners gives it a new taste. However if it becomes a sort of Disneyland by the Sea populated by upper lass people, it will simply lose its soul. Moreover, it will stop attracting people and all this will have the reverse effect of what some expect. Let it grow and change naturally, help it when necessary, and all will be great. Let's preserve what we loved in the first place.

please, remain the authentic character of this beautiful small city!

It's a shame! ... Portuguise municipalities and architects still haven't learnt yet to respect their own heritage! 'Modern' is the same all over the world, but 'Portuguise' is unique.

We need to protect and preserve the historical centre, it is the fabric of olhao life and draws many tourists.
