Not everywhere in this world needs a McDonalds and a multi storey car park. Many of the people who visit this town do so because they appreciate and respect its character – character that reflects the wonderful people who live there. It would be nice for quick-buck makers to leave it well alone

This would be a travesty and olhao must be one of the most beautiful largely unspoilt areas in Portugal . It would be devastating to local people and tourists.

Olhão is a 'jewel' the way it is! It has a very special charm and atmosphere, to modernise it would be to destroy it. You have something that other communities can only dream of, a seductive character that one falls in love with. NO TO MODERNISTIC PLANNING!

We have been visiting Olhao since the 1980s and are very worried and upset by the insensitve "modernisation", which if it continues will destroy the authentic feel of the old town. Guy is an internationally known artist, and Olhao and the barrier islands have been crucial to his work, Please keep it as it is,

Old Olhao is a gem, the lack of inappropriate development is a central part of its character, it is unique in character and appearance, this must not be lost, what would be the benefit to the local heritage and culture and if you lose that what is the damage to the economy and community?

Olhao is a beautiful town which we have stayed in many times. The historic centre is what makes Olhao special and it should be protected and celebrated so future generations can enjoy this special and unique town.

completely unnecessary for such a beautiful historic town. We would be unlikely to come back if it wasn't for the natural rustic charm.

I have come to Olhao on holiday twice, because of the unique and special architectural features and and precisely because it has not been 'modernised'. It's an authentic and beautiful place that should be protected, especially the architecture which means you can view the sea from almost all of the rooftop terraces. By all means refurbish, but please keep the feel and special character of the place.

It's much easier to destroy something precious than create something precious. Please look for other examples of towns renewing themselves by keeping the original and follow that.
Thank you

Olhao is a beautiful historic town. The old town is as attractive as Ronda in Spain. It needs to be conserved for the future and promoted for tourism to boost business.
