Olhao will lose tremendously if it character is disturbed by tearing down historical buildings. Renovation is what is called for. The historical buildings is what gives it its charm.

Olhao presents an opportunity to visit a Portugal that the over developed Algarve simply can't provide. It is a beautiful town with an incredible energy and ambiance. Instead of redeveloping in the image of so many other modernised towns which destroy the character and Portuguese heritage Olhao has in abundance, an attitude of renovation and restoration would signal Olhao out as reflecting the true Portugal.

We love Olhao for its authenticity and Portuguese character. Please don't make it bland and the same as Lagos, Albufeira or any of the other towns that have been gentrified in the Algarve. Olhao needs to have strengthened economic regeneration and to have higher standards of cleanliness and tidiness. It does not need to have its historic urban fabric swept away; Olhao's architecture and streetscape is its unique selling point.

Please do not destroy the genuine character and charm of old Olhao this is a rare heritage in the much over commercialised Algarve. Already the so called improvements of the streets have started to look dirty and cheap stripped of the charm of the old calcadas.and beautiful trees What brings long lasting investment is restoring the original character of the old buildings sympathetically as in the case of the markets this is what will make olhao stand out from dated mass developments in much of the coastal resorts. Olhao needs a more sustainable growth to encourage an all year round visitor appeal and build on its existing attributes of history and unspoilt environment a quality rare in the Algarve coastline

It is really imperative to maintain this unique architectural and material heritage and to ensure any new development is sensitive to the existing milieu

The beauty, attraction and privacy of the old town would be completely destroyed if this proposed development went ahead.

Please do not destroy this beautiful town of Olhao which still maintains its charming character. This is why we return here several times a year for holidays rather than go else where in Portugal!

Please don't destroy the beautiful historic centre of Olhao. Its an essential component of the town's heritage, charm and beauty which is also very unique to the Algarve. Olhao retains a wonderful balance between a genuine Portuguese town and an unbeatable destination for visitors like us who come here every year. Please preserve this paradise.

They paved paradise And put up a parking lot With a pink hotel, a boutique And a swinging hot spot Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got til its gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot They took all the trees And put 'em in a tree museum And they charged the people A dollar and a half to seem 'em No no no Don't it always seem to go, That you don't know what you've got Til its gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot... The charm of this historic town deserved to be preserved and is the main reason for tourists to visit. I spent an enjoyable few days there this summer. I would not return if the historic character of this town was changed or diminished.
