No to the plans destroying the character of the historic centre of Olhão in Portugal

Beautiful old town. It will lose many of its visitors if the character, charm and beauty of Olhao is altered or destroyed. The hotels, restaurants and ferries will all suffer, along with the life on the islands. Don't change it, but do something about the smell.

I have been coming to the Algarve for almost 40 years (even owning a property in Carvoeiro for nearly 20 years). Please do not change this beatiful and historic town.

We visited your beautiful town this summer and were delighted to discover that it had not been destroyed by the modern buildings. You will get a much better quality of visitor if you keep it as it is. Treat it like a world heritage site and refresh it as it is. There seemed to be some good examples of old buildings beautifully renovated and but with all the modern comforts.Ibiza Old Town has done exactly that over 10 years and now they have a jewel of a city that looks like it did 500 years ago but with all the modern comforts and the tourists flock in ever greater numbers. Everyone is a winner.

Do not be tempted to go the way of so many Portuguese villages and towns . The unique appeal of the town is in its historic past and is full of charm and unique atmosphere. As a visitor from England I KNOW this is the future, people want AUTHENTIC places to visit not manufactured townscapes

If you change the city, many people will go away. Instead, repair it, without destroying its soul.
