I read the article in the Sanford Herald today.
I do not know what is required to be presented at "the hearing" to convince the decision makers that quarry operations are detrimental to surrounding real estate but there are studies that already have been circulated by some of us that show clearly this is true. Of course the developers will pose the challenge, "Is this a FACT?" I hope the committee members can be convinced to use their prudence when considering the negative effect a quarry will have on our community - not only real estate values but safety and quality of life issues as well.
In my opinion the negativeness of the creation of quarry in our community is as clear as FACT

We moved to our retirement home in Carolina Trace for the quiet and the golf. If we new a quarry was going to go in we wouldn't have moved to Sanford. I am worried about the health and environment. I have allergy's to dust and astham. Also 2 years ago I had 2 strokes which affected my inner ear. I will have balance problems to load noises. Health reason's it will not be go for me. The property values will drop I wouldn't think Lee County would want that. Not sure if Highway 87 could take all that truck traffic.

When I retired, leaving New Jersey to reside in Sanford, NC, I certainly did not expect to live near a quarry. For the many reasons already cited I vigorously oppose this disgusting venture. If this venture is approved, who will compensate for my losses as I prepare to relocate elsewhere?

It is hard to believe a rock quarry coming across the major HWY87 in 2015!!! Lee County is a wonderful residential area and PLEASE don't bring such a "threat" to growth of residential: water, air, dump trucks, noise, and trees destroyed! What will happen to clean water in the Little River flowing territory? Will the river be wiped out? DON"T ALLOW IN 2015, why did they wait so long?????

I highly oppose this poorly planned project in our area. This is a growing residential community and any research you check does not recommend a rock quarry this close to a growing population of tax payers and voters. The negative impact a quarry can have on the environment in addition to the many residents is catastrophic. This is truly a benefit for a few and the expense of many. I implore our leaders to take action that is why hundreds of us have voted for you. I am sure not one of our leaders would agree to have a rock quarry this close to their personal homes and neighborhood, would you? In addition to the many environmental negatives this will cause that have not been properly researched which is certainly by design because of the answers the quarry people will get. This does not even make common sense. Look at Apex or Pinehurst or Cary, this would never be allowed on those thriving areas. Our area is thriving finally and now for a few outsiders we are going to destroy it! Please do the right thing, do your job and stop this rock quarry, there are many other places to blast rocks for money, not our back yard. !!

A quarry at this location is a very bad idea. I came here to retire on this beautiful lake and peaceful surroundings. If a quarry happens I intend to move. I hope our elected officials can see the harm in this.

Being downstream from a quarry that uses water from the river that feeds our lake could lower the water table, increase river siltation, damage the fishery and disrupt the fragile eco-system of Lake Trace. I am adamantly opposed to the Little River Quarry proposal.

Two months ago, I moved into my dream retirement home - 2 $350,000 investment. I chose this area for the golf, the peace and the quiet. My property is less than 300 yards form route 87. Allowing this quarry to operate will decrease the value of my investment, possibly damage my home, and disturb the very reason for which I moved. Additionally, with the baby boomers reaching retirement age, that property is much more valuable as future residential property instead of an environmentally destroying nuisance.

This is not a plus for the proposed area and the economical health of Lee County and especially the house values and overall quality of life. This decision should be based on the good of the whole not a select few and if this were to go through the negative outcome would be felt for many years to come

This potential quarry travesty by greedy landowners looks like collusion with government officials hiding behind their desks. Stop this quarry. Millions of dollars for Lee County coffers are impacted. Health issues from dust and noise pollution, are forecast, the truck traffic with behemoth
