How do I know that this petition wasn't created by the owners of the Extended Stay America over on 75th and Bell trying to stop any competition?
I mean I don't understand all the scare tactics this petition is trying to use: drugs, transients, children. I drive by that extended stay every day on my way to work and it seems fine to me. Haven't seen a big bag of drugs yet.
The motives and the scare tactics of the people making this petition just seems a bit suspicious is all I am saying.

I just looked up a Trip Advisor reviews for the StayApt at 8849 Richmond Hwy, Mount Vernon, VA 22309-1508. This is WORD FOR WORD the review:
"Perfect Home Away from Home: We live in the area but due to a sewer line emergency had to move out for a week. Stay APT was perfect for us. The full kitchen, living space, and quality beds were what our family needed. We ended up staying a full week and it was great. Even the configuration of the space is inviting - an interior courtyard area with space for the kids to run around and a nice cookout and seating option. It was like a home away from home.
John, the manager, was extremely helpful and always available."
UGH, a business that helps people who have a sewer line emergency.
"A nice space for kids to run around?" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I HATE KIDS!
PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEWER LINE PROBLEMS ARE TERRIBLE PEOPLE. You do not want them in your neighborhood.
This sounds awful!

I am opposed to building this in our community but I must say for the record that it makes me a bit uncomfortable how the petition text and some of the people in the comments try to vilify these unfortunate people who are suffering and weren’t dealt the same good luck that we were.
I do not hate the people who need God’s love and deserve to live where they want. We are all God’s children and we must keep that in perspective.

People in the hotel business are the lowest of lowlifes. They are sleazy people. No to new hotels!
I wish Trump were still around, he would never let this happen.

“This will immediately introduce 24-hour activity to our quiet residential neighborhood.”
I am against STAYAPT but this point is a ridiculous argument.
Quiet residential neighborhood?
We have a 10 lane mega freeway cutting right through Arrowhead! Throne Brewing Company is open till 11PM every night, so is Chili’s. There are a half dozen hotels here and Arrowhead mall is one of the busiest malls in Phoenix.
Let’s just be honest with ourselves and say up front why we don’t like StayApt: We don’t like it because if we build buildings that poor people can use, they have a right to be here. That takes away our ability to yell at them to get out of here. We just don’t want to share our town with THEM. They don’t deserve to be here. There I said it. That is why I don’t like it.

I agree with Erin Cole when she says "Go ahead and post your address and welcome them into your home."
I agree because this town is not for “Them,” it’s only for people like us. All the business we build should be for “us.” If we build a business for “Them,” then more of “Them” will show up. If we see “Them” we should call the police so “they” get thrown out of our town. We should not help “Them.” We should not create any place for “them” to live. We need to stop “Them.”
This is not a land of equal opportunity, it is a town only for “us” and I have no shame being mean to “Them” and kicking “Them” out. It doesn't even keep me up at night. We must be separate.

I saw this petition posted over at our facebook group "Communists of Phoenix!" We fully support getting government more involved in controlling businesses. The free market and creative entrepreneurs should be regulated with as much red tape as we can throw at them.
Thank you for encouraging bureaucrats like the zoning commission and city council to get involved in private business and slowing them down. This is just what we communists love!
Thank you comrade

I was curious so I looked up a StayAPT in Virginia and compared it to an Extended Stay America that is also in Virginia.
StayApt actually costs $30/night more than Extended Stay America.
I think StayApt is actually a higherclass brand and not actually catering to the transient community.
Oh well, I guess I will have to find a new reason to hate it..... ah ok ... It will ugh increase traffic. Yes that is it! Traffic is going to be worse! Whew glad I found a new reason to hate something.

This is so true: "StayApt will be less than one mile from Arrowhead Elementary School"
If my child is within 1 mile of a poor person they start to cry!
Think of all the crying. Think of the children.

No To StayApt!
I know that this business will make millions of dollars.
I know tat this business will also cause surrounding business to earn more money because the people who stay their have to buy coffee and go to dinner.
And I know that all of this earn more taxes that will directly benefit our community with better roads and more money for schools.
I know that in the long run all that will be better.
But I fear poor people so much that if I see just one poor person walking down the street I would surrender all those millions in tax dollars just so I don't have to see THOSE PEOPLE. That is how awful poor people are.
No to StayApt. Let's keep our city worse just so we don't have to see poor people.
