I've been enjoying the San Marcus for decades, a beautiful river most recently is being trashed and abused by a few enterprises. I reject the notion of those enterprises self-policing. Common sense indicates they will not do anything to endanger their enterprises.

As a paddler, I've witnessed the horrors of a blanket of cans a foot deep. Sadly, toobers and tube outfitters have shown they cannot float responsibly without regulations and threat of punishment. We need SB234.

As a participant in the Trash Bash cleanups for Texas over the last several years I have seen this once pristine river become full of cans & litter - we need to restore this river.

The San Marcos River is one of the purest water resources in the country. It is absolutely shameful to allow companies who benefit financially from having as many people as possible go tubing. This river deserves to have a much higher standard of behavior expected in order that this resource receives as much protection as possible. We want our children to be able to enjoy this beautiful place.

There needs to be "teeth" in the ordinances to fine violators.

Tube companies fail at self policing.

The less trash in the river the better. The current solution has failed miserably.

These outfitters have despoiled the San Marcos River, they can't be trusted.

I live in a student housing neighborhood and do not believe that a private plan can keep the student population in line. They are mostly out of control and have a limited sense of reality.

Allowing the tubing companies to self police on any river is a disastrous idea, and especially on the San Marcos River where they already run more people than is healthy for the river. An outside party is necessary to keep the river from becoming even more polluted than they have already made it.

I'm not against the outfitters, but I believe their business should not profit at the expense of the river and the public.

I am soundly rejecting the private plan (MOU) to the trash management along the river. Their plan has NOT worked before and will therefore NOT be enforced again if they are given the benefit of self-management. There must be funding for river maintenance in the hands of people who respect the river. Otherwise, it is just another polluted river in the magnificent State of TEXAS.

It is against the monetary interest of these outfitters to self-police.

I don't understand why it's so important for tubers to be able to drink alcohol on the river. There are a ton of places to do that, if you are 21, so why make the river unbearable for families to enjoy?
