NO to Self Policing by Tubing Outfitters on San Marcos River

It's a conflict of interest for any business to limit its profit by self-regulation. Self-policing historically in any aspect is a failure.

This is where we stand up even more & demand responsibility from those utilizing our Sacred River for Capitalistic Gain. We Demand Responsibility & Accountability, no if, ands, or buts.

Instead of permitting "business as usual", make the outfitters and their customers contribute financially to the clean-up of the River. The passage of a WORD on the San Marcos will certainly be more productive than an IOU promise of the private plan MOU.

I'm sure people would not be such slobs if the tubing companies would only speak up to their clients and hand them a trash bag. Most people are just not that aware of the problem. Since the tubing companies can't even do that little effort, they need to be policed by an outside entity. and the cost of the outside policing needs to be reclaimed FROM the tubing companies.

We have enjoyed the river for years until the Don's Fish Camp and Texas State Tubes began. It is a conflict of interest to allow them to self police their activities. The river is a heritage our children should be able to enjoy for years to come. We need to insure that this will be possible. The trash and

Unfortunately, self-policing is just not a realistic option. While people have the right to enjoy the river, the don't have the right to trash it. Tubing on the scale we see on the San Marcos is trashing the river.

tubing and the associated alcohol and trash are ruining the San Marcos River. The situation is reaching crisis level. Voluntary policing of this type of activity has never worked--real policing is needed..

I kayaked the San Marcos River some years ago and filled my kayak with so much garbage that I was afraid that it would overturn!

I absolutely agree that the tubing outfitters are not interested or capable of responsible self-policing and cleaning the river. A concerned kayaker,

Please don't let our rivers become junkyards like the unappreciative companies and folks in New Braunfels allowed. We live here and need clean healthy water for all of our ways of life!

Where else in public in the State of Texas can you do anything you want. Trashing a river is not a good business plan and neither is allowing underage drinking. We shouldn't allow it. The people running these so called businesses can not be trusted.

Its ludicrous to believe that this industry can police itself due to its past history. Please don't let them do it now.

As everyone has said, the trash has only gotten worse over the last couple of years. While most of the concentration of trash is up river, we are seeing more in Martindale too. Don's and TX state rentals only care about using the river for their greedy profits. They don't care about their neighbors or the river. It is pretty obvious to everyone except to the dumb young drunks who mostly use these businesses and contribute to the problem. Stand together community of river lovers. Sign and share
