NO to Self Policing by Tubing Outfitters on San Marcos River

Disgusting how much trash people drop off their tubes on a daily basis, and the inability of tubers to handle their alcohol, resulting in fights and emergency calls. Where is the accountability going to be when the businesses don't follow through with their promises to clean up and police their customers? The answer: there would be no way to make them accountable. Signing.

The San Marcos River is a public recreational treasure that must be preserved for all to enjoy. It should not be alcohol free but certainly container and trash free, Please vote to save our Texas natural resource.

At the very least there should be someone policing their self policing. Not a free for all like what's going on right now.

I've paddled the river and done too many river cleanups to not realize that the trash problem is primarily from the customers of the tube outfitters - and that they cannot police themselves.

the San Marcos has living organisms that are found nowhere else and deserves to be kept pristine. I have been kayaking there for years and I am appalled at what the tubing industry has done to this river.

Having a fox guard the hen house is absurd.

To save the San Marcos River from being trashed like the Guadalupe River, we need a ban on cans and other single-use beverage containers. It is good to see that the tubing companies are offering to pay for more policing and clean-ups. However, to prevent the problem in the first place, I favor legislation that allows the counties the power to ban cans, glass, etc.

As a 2 time safari racer and father of 4 who enjoy this river immensely, I am proud to sign this petition and urge other to do so as well.

I grew up in the Spring River Estates neighborhood next to Don's Fish Camp. I have witnessed and know as a fact that Texas State students and other citizens do not take responsibility for care and preservation of the river's ecosystem. Let alone the tax-paying resident's property.
