NO to Self Policing by Tubing Outfitters on San Marcos River

Many areas in this scenic little river have become eyesores. Stronger action than self regulation need to be put in place.

Leave No Trace principles clearly aren't a priority with private enterprises on the river. It's time to correct things, starting with some regulation.

While recreation on rivers is a vital part of our Texas culture, and so is the right to conduct a business, it is not however acceptable or sustainable for one to suffer by the hand of the other. If business provide a service of safehavens from conventional law, and promote a culture of disrespect for private property and the natural environment, they should not retain the privilege of access to that resource as a method of profit without culpability.

It breaks my heart to see the river being destroyed. We have been camping on the San Marcos river for over 20 years. The last few years have gotten steadily worse, filled with loud drunken tubers. The peaceful family friendly camping trip is becoming a thing of the past . It's quiet obvious the tubing companies are only concerned with the almighty dollar!.

Beer cans, boom boxes and drunks of all ages detract from one of Texas' treasures.

It is so sad how the tubers have ruined the beauty and solitude of the San Marcos River, The amount of trash they dump in it is staggering, and their behavior is atrocious. Beer and marijuana are always present.

The tubers are so drunk and disorderly that it is impossible to paddle the river anymore, and their language and behavior are so vulgar that we hate to bring our girl and boys on the river.

I fully support SB 234. This is critical to protecting our Rivers.

I have done river clean up, kayaks and kayaks full of cans, It's horrible and these people are making money off of this beautiful river and doing the minimum to help it. Its not right and something needs to be done to fix the problem.

The fact that the tube shuttle owners are only coming to respond with any type of cooperation at the time of potential legislation certainly supports the "only sorry I got caught" attitude. The river enjoyment has been taken away by their continued actions. Please act to ensure one of Texas most precious resources is available for all to enjoy. Thank you.

If the tube rental companies were serious about keeping the San Marcos clean, they could have tried their self-policing plan years ago. They are only stalling.

please deny self policing authority to the tubers and outfitters. Instead provide the authority of a can ban to help us keep the rivers clean.

Stand strong against the few, narrow, greedy, self-interested parties that are behind the destruction of our rivers.

I've pulled many hundreds of cans and bottles from the river personally.
