"NO" to rezoning of Don's Seafood to a Funeral Home

Imagining even more traffic congestion in this area of our neighborhood is enough to cause me to not renew my lease in Highland and simply move. I imagine others would do the same. This is an entirely inappropriate location for the starting point of a funeral procession, and most definitely would not serve a neighborhood community with the same purposes as should be intended for a business occupying this building.

this is odd that I am re-signing, as I already did sign with a rather extensive comment. A funeral home is not a proper use of this property, which sits in the back yard of residences.

I'm opposed to the rezoning.

Bad Place for a funeral home

I'm against the funeral home.

No. His is crazy. There are way too many funeral homes as it is

Shreveporters see the traffic associated with two funeral homes that are on the periphery of Highland and are happy not to live in those areas. Yet Marshall St and Southern Ave are workable locations because the surrounding population is low. King's Highway is congested all day long. It is a corridor that at the moment is at maximum absorption.

The traffic here is already terrible. This will increase traffic considerably and making it difficult for us to get in and out of our neighborhood.

NO funeral home - YES to an art/media/entertainment type of renovation.

It would just cause more problems in an already congested area. Too close to a growing neighborhood. On a personal note, that building was a place for families dined full of happy memories. Bad enough it closed I can't see where a funeral home would help revitalize that area.

The property is located on a very busy intersection. It is not the right type of business for that location.

Traffic is busy enough at that intersection. Regular funeral processions would wreak havoc on traffic flow

In addition to the traffic snarls which will ultimately occur with the normal flow of their business, a funeral home at the proposed location is inappropriate for this existing residental area.

This building is adjacent to a neighborhood of single family homes. Homes that raise and shelter families. It's located across from neighborhood friendly facilities, such as a grocery store, a laundry facility, a general store, and shops of similar ilk. Nearby is a high school and also an elementary school. While death is apart of life, to institutionalize it in a family neighborhood is irresponsible. There are so many other vacant lots and buildings in Shreveport, located in already properly zoned locales, that to change the zoning to accommodate a funeral home is senseless. Not only the traffic, but the kind of traffic generated by a funeral home will congest an area and do so dangerously. Kings highway is a high traffic street...well-traveled. Kings Hwy is not a wide street, but it is four lanes. It is often backed up. The intersections in that area are already dangerous enough. THerefore, I oppose this change in zoning.

Tthink about traffic problems. Between 2pm and 4 pm youhaveextra traffic due to creswell parents picking up children and Byrd students getting out of school. This is prime "funeral" time. So these processions would leave and head down Kings Hwy to Forest Park. I see huge problems with that. Compare the parking with other funeral homes such as Roseneath and Osbourne, and there isn't nearly as much. This is not a good plan.

Funeral Home will create too much traffic. when they have the Funeral Procession to Cemetary. traffic will be stopped and get backed up !

This area is home to us. I attended Centenary and our first home was near by. Dons was my mothers favorite restaurant and I have great memories there. The building has potential to be many things, but a funeral home isn't one of them!

Not an appropriate place for a funeral home!
