Oppose rezoning. Should be the same zone as my current zone on Ashby Drive.

My family and I have lived around the world. We chose to return and make our home here. We’re in danger of losing what makes our community special. We’re moving at breakneck speed for more and more development. Why? Who benefits? At what cost to the rest of us? We don’t need Roanoke North in Botetourt County.

Approving without proper infrastructure prior to building ANY substantial number of homes along Greenfield St would be grossly ill-advised by Botetourt County!

R3 zoning is simply incompatible with the surrounding neighborhood. I am also highly concerned that no proffers whatsoever are being provided by the developer.

The county should stick to the plan it created and put this type of development at Gateway Crossing.

I understand the desire for development, and I fully support that. What I do NOT support is greedy builders who only see dollar signs. My vote is absolute NO for R3!!!!

While I’m not opposed to developing the property, it needs to be done in a thoughtful way. Consideration for infrastructure impacts (specifically water and electricity), significantly higher level of traffic on an already busy road, and safety concerns of the existing residents must be addressed. In addition, consistency with the quality and character of Ashley Plantation should be maintained. R-1 zoning is a reasonable way to balance the the county needs for expanded housing while at the same time preserving the quality of the Ashley Plantation community.

The reason we want to live in this area is because we hate how Roanoke has become houses on top of each other stop building more homes than people. Also this builder is known to throw them up quick and with problems I’d never buy one anyways

As an owner of home built by and in a R. Fralin Development and knowing people that have invested into Ashley Plantation and the associated neighborhood, I believe that there are better options available for use of this land. While a home owners association, I assume, would be a part of these homes to be built, is not up to the standards required within Ashley Plantation nor the appeals of what bring people to Botetourt County. I understand the need for more housing with such a growing industry throughout Botetourt but I do not believe that a larger amount of code minimum homes packed into a small area is right for the area. It would not be aesthetically pleasing to those coming into the area, especially being right in the center of the fastest growing part of the county.

This land should be developed with quality and nature in mind. A developer who has more than dollar signs in their eyes and can listen to people who live and care for the area.

R3 is too dense for this area, and Fralin homes does not have the best reputation. There are much better options for this land. Develop it responsibly.

I am not opposed to Botetourt growth. There are many places to build “affordable housing” in Botetourt County. Placing what Robert Fralin has propsed as “affordable housing” along Greenfield Steet should not be one of those places. This property will appear as an extension of Ashley plantation because its surrounded by Ashley on three sides. It will cause major traffic along Greenfield Street, cause strain on water pressure, power grids, schools and fire and rescue. It will take away from Botetourt’s famed open green space and reduces the quality of one of Botetourt’s most desirable neighborhoods.

Fewer homes that actually enhance the attractiveness of Botetourt County for new residents and new commercial entities are what is called for.

Too many prospective residences in a small area that will not compliment the existing community nor be a contribution to the broader goals of the County Comprehensive Plan. Growth through haphazard housing in Botetourt County should not be a substitute for of positive, planned development. The latter can be a foundation for the betterment of the County as a whole.
