A group of "know all" is now after the gym. Have anyone of them ever been there to know how it operates?

I hope this overwhelming response from staff/fitness center members sends a clear message to decision makers. Reducing cost is not always the right solution and outsourcing is most definitely NOT cost effective in the long-term. I don't think we could get a better deal than instructors volunteering their services. If there's one thing that has worked consistently and extremely well in the last 20 years, it is the Fitness Center -- why, because of ownership and participation. We know that what we preach to our clients work, so why can't we apply the same principles in our own backyard. Please do not outsource the Fitness Center!!!

The gym is like a familly, staff talk amongst themselves (including about work), fitness staff is dedicated and professional, it works very well as is, we all have choice to go to larger/better equiped commercial facilities nearby (which by the way are relatively less expensive) and yet we chose t ostay because of the personal touch, in the end this gym make us healthier and more productive staff for the WBG, hard to understand why it needs to be changed!

There has to be a serious cost benefit analysis when proposing this. Are there other ways to raise revenue or reduce cost? What is the benefit of having a healthier workforce?

Outsourcing or in-house is not the decisive question for quality (or price): both are monopolies. As things are, we have better control over an in-house monopoly. Apart from that I recommend a modern regulatory approach (price caps) to further service monopolies for the Bank, such as WBCC, Amex etc

Please don't deprive us of one remedy for our constant stress - we need the gym like air at the Bank, on the Bank premises. This is the only thing that still helps staff to keep balance between work and life.

I would support managing the fitness center in house rather than outsourcing it.

I agree that the amount of work that is done on a pro bono basis by fitness center and World Bank Group staff could not be replaced (either in quality or cost) by an outside service provider.

I believe that an outside company will not provide the same quality of service that is being provided now by the WB Fitness center staff and volunteers. I would strongly consider canceling my membership and going exercise someplace else if the GSD decides to go ahead with the outsourcing of the WB Fitness Center.

My preference is to keep the existing framework for managing the gym. Outsourcing will loose the valuable resource of our dedicated team and may limit flexibility and innovation to respond to World Bank staff unique needs and situation.

I support the petition - NO to outsourcing. WHY would you contemplate changing a system that works efficiently?
