The WB gym facility is an excellent centre maintained by dedicated WB staff and should be kept run by them. No need of outside people.

The gym is critical to maintaining staff health. We can find ways to make it more cost effective but let us keep it within.

Outsourcing is not necessary. We have an excellent gym with excellent staff and let's just keep it within the Bank.

I don't see how this will be a significant savings. Our fitness centre staff are professional and dedicated. The place runs very smoothly and I don't see how relinquishing control to an outside party is going to reduce costs. Outsourcing is not cheaper by default. We can do just as well by keeping full control over the service provided. Outsourcing is NOT NECESSARY. Its value is far from certain. Let's keep the excellent arrangement we have and see if there are any savings to be made in-house.

Staff at the gym make me feel great about going to the gym. And because I go there, i feel good at work. And because I feel good at work, I am more productive. And because I feel good and am more productive, I feel good wtih colleagues, team, and managers. There.

Oursourcing our gym will bring devastating impacts to our morale and physical well-being. Please don't do it - quality will suffer and any financial gains will be minimal.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The WBFC staff is valuable, not only for their expertise in fitness/health, but because each one of them works seamlessly through the multicultural terrain of its members. The trust and respect that the WBFC staff builds with its members is priceless. GSD should factor that into its cost effectiveness study.

The gym has gone through changes from an insignificant small gym to a full blown top of the line gym in the DC area. Not only the gym helps to stimulate and maintain the good health, and productivity of Bank staff but also relieve stress. Since Michael James and his Team took over the management, the standards have continuously risen - patronage, organization, attention to clients’ needs, and variety of classes offered on a daily basis, particularly those tailored to special health needs like the Back-to-life program for cancer patients and survivors, etc, which show exceptional dedication for staff. Outsourcing will kill the camaraderie and professionalism built over the years which are the backbone of the gym’s existence. Am confident the benefits outweigh the costs beyond measure.

What savings, if any, are expected from outsourcing and how will those funds be reallocated? Will staff reap the benefits of these savings? Unless there are some serious problems affecting the overall performance of the gym, I say leave it alone -- if it ain't broke why fix it?

I strongly oppose the outsourcing proposal for the Fitness Center and strongly support to have the Fitness Center in house. From my own experience using this facility for several years I have a very positive attitude. The setting is very well maintained and the staff are very professional and friendly.

Given the mounting evidence on the benefits of physical exercise to personal well-being and functioning, and the contributions current FC staff are making towards helping so many of us reach our fitness goals, outsourcing would truly be penny wise and pound foolish.

Even if it were to save funds- which is doubtful- do a proper cost benefit, and realize that your costs in terms of staff discontent and disappointment far outweigh the measly few dollars you are hoping to save.

I strongly support to have Fitness Center in house and big NO to outsourcing. I have used the gym for more than 15 years and we have the best Fitness Center staff and volunteers.

The option of having access, during the working hours, to a high quality, very well-reputed, and customized inhouse gym might well be one of the factors contributing to the top favourable ratings for WBG as a place to work, in the recent Staff Survey. Please don’t take it away from us.

NO. The IMF Fitness Center naturally would not dream of outsourcing their facility! World Bank staff are not even allowed as members!

In the past some of the gym team have assisted and provided training in project launching workshops via video connection. I don't see how this function can be outsourced.
