The City Council finally backed down and scrapped the McDonald's proposal for our downtown. We forced them to listen to the community instead of corporate interests. Stay vigilant because we have proven that we can stop them whenever they try to sell our neighborhood out again.

Watsonville City Council members are elected to speak for us, let's make sure they know what we want! Another fast food restaurant is not it, especially not in our beautiful and historic downtown. Sign the petition and show up to the October 14 council meeting to show your disdain for their approval of something that will only hurt our community. Bring posters, handouts, fact sheets or whatever you feel will help convince our council members that another McDonald's will in no way benefit our residents. We can stop this from happening. Our children deserve better. Watsonville has moved forward, a McDonald's would be a huge step back. Please be assured that your comments will be hand-delivered to council members on Oct. 14.

The City Council needs to see that we are not backing down from this fight against corporate garbage. We need to hit that hundred signature mark before the meeting to show them this community is fed up. Post this to your feed right now and make sure they realize downtown Watsonville is not for sale.

We residents of Watsonville find that creating another fast food restaurant would not really attract the attention of tourist. We here by want to make this city a better place, not by creating another restaurant, but by creating something more proactive were the teenagers will interact more and they won't be out in the streets getting involved in gangs. Watsonville does not need another restaurant, we understand that the McDonald's owner offered to buy this, but we the people of watsonville do not want another fast food restaurant. This is not helping our city, we do not want to be seen as an obese city, we want to be seen as the city that made a difference.

I totally agree with Janet. Instead of making a fast food place, We should build somethig that would make people more proactive, like reopening the bowling alley or making a roller rink or anything that would help bring us teenagers and even adults together to have fun and burn some calories while we're at it. :)

Our Community needs more Activities for our Families here in Watsonville. Watsonville has only 1 Movie Theater. We need Fun things for our town. The Bowling Alley was closed. What about a skating Rink? If a Food Restaurant is chosen, Can our community have a more healthier one for our community? My suggestion would be The Olive Garden.

No more junk food for our community. We all deserve better, especially our children.
