I have travelled I405 for 30 years. to remove the merge lanes and create 2 toll lanes has made traffic far worse! They even have tolls on these lanes at 2:00AM! Why? there is no one in these lanes outside heavy commuter times and traffic is slow in the main lines. This is the biggest mistake they have ever made. Every person I know thinks it is a waste of our money and making regular travel worse at the expense of a VERY small few who are willing to pay ridiculous fees. we are paying for lanes with our gas taxes (one of the highest in the nation) that less than 10% of the traffic uses. Why?

My drive at 7am for the last 3 years was was like clock work and very dependable. Now with the express open my commute is 20 minutes longer and unpredictable at least 3 days a week longer than 20 minutes. I am a strong dem and but I will not vote for a dem governor agian.

Eliminating the 2 person carpool and turning so much pavement over to restricted (paid) use was simply stupid. WSDOT needs elected oversight, not corporate alliances.

Absolutely a disaster for locals.
Quality of life has been reduced due to increased congestion and wasting time.
This toll systems is just wrong.
The only firm making money is the company that installed the tolling system since they share in the profits of the toll system. WA-State is not benefiting and less than 30% of the tolls are being used to improve or pay for roads. A large percentage goes to tolling service company.

Ever since the tolls started the traffic has gotten worse despite the statistics the DOT is reporting.
The practical experience is that I-405 and every surface road feeding and exiting are being clogged compounding the disaster. This is very real and is not imagined.
Our sales force has reported a 60% drop in productivity hurting business due to inability to move about the I-405 corridor and feeding to other highways. It is more difficult now to visit customers and service business.
This is a disaster and has made living in Seattle a complete turn-off.
We recently had visitors in town. Every time we got on I-405 we we were in 30-45 minute traffic jams. Our guests have were appalled and the traffic and were less inclined to come visit again.
This is bad for our State and our local region, it is not working.

This is not the way to reduce traffic...
