I don't think any location in Lone Tree is a good place for this type of facility. Given the demographics, Lone Tree should have a facility that nurtures high academic success, where students could have access to tutoring for ACT testing, or even a place to take college courses while in high school. It is a family friendly area, why would we bring in a school that could jeopardize the safety of the area when would could bring in something that would actually help the kids that currently live here? Why would anyone think it's a good idea to take a completely safe small town and invite potential danger when you can put in a facility that would encourage academic success?
If we are going to put in a facility where kids have struggled with Possession of Drugs, Fighting, Possession of Weapons, truancy and felonies why would we not locate that in a more remote location, not around family friendly safe neighborhoods. If we think about it, even our 'safe' public high schools still have police patrolling them because of the struggles we have had in the past. Now we are going to put this population of students in one school, right in the middle of a family friendly town?? That doesn't make sense. These children definitely need help, I'm sure there is a better remote location to service these children as Douglas County is quite large. I really like the advice that was given, it is always good to look at what other districts have done and how it has worked for them. Why not maintain the safety that is already here and in so many great neighborhoods around the district. Choose a location for this type of learning, that will only be an asset to Douglas County schools when families are looking for homes.
It's also important not get angry and make this a battle ground. Douglas County has had enough of that in the past. Just look at all perspectives and do what's right for everyone.

I do not support this location for the subject school. I do support the additional uses which the district has in mind for the building: A conference room space, a Child Find program and a Bridges program (for post-high school special ed students).

We've already been through this once when you tried to take away our now Lone Tree Elementary sight. We've already said we don't want a "lock down" school for troubled teens 13 years ago. We still mean it!

I believe alternative schools are better placed in a shopping or industrial area where there is adequate parking and open space. They are not well suited near a neighborhood and young children.

Nothing good comes from the way this was presented to the surrounding area (or not presented), and there are too many other viable options for location of an alternative high school. There are reasons that other districts have not placed these schools near neighborhoods. I do NOT support this!
