Teachers, parents and students of DCPS say no to Lewis D. Ferebee for DC Chancellor. According to the Washington Post: while serving as superintendent of Indianapolis Schools only 1 in 5 students passed the English and Math citywide tests; Ferebee closed half the high schools in the city turning them over to charters and non-profits; Ferebee is involved in three civil law suits which question his fulfilling his responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning an improper relationship between a teenager and a guidance counselor. Mayor Bowser chose Ferebee against the recommendation of the advisory board involved in the hiring process. Say no to Ferebee for DCPS Chancellor of Schools!

Mr. Ferebee has a troubling track record of closing struggling schools and building charters in their place. This is NOT the mentality we need in the District of Columbia. I urge the DC Council to vote NO on Mr. Ferebee's confirmation n
Indiana is not a good place from which to draw public school management
This is NOT what D.C. needs.
Why can't we find someone who is an excellent educator and loves teaching without being plagued with scandal. I am also concerned deeply about deputy mayor for ed.
This pick is the wrong direction for DC public education.
We are tired of people who have a history of closing schools and busting up unions instead of finding long term solutions to the underlying challenges our students face. Stop breaking up communities and support them instead.

How was Amanda Alexander with a proven commitment to the city not selected. Another new person, unfamiliar with the landscape of DC, that will take a year plus to go on listening tours instead of getting to the work.
