We the citizens of The United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, hereby petition Preston council and the Labour Party to see sense and to NOT fly the Flag of Ireland over Preston Town Hall or any other administrative building on the UK mainland in celebration of the Easter uprising of 1916.

The main reasons being that it will stoke discontent between native and ethnic communities, and not only serve to divide our communities more than they already are, but also many UK citizens will view this as extremely provocative, insensitive and borderline sycophantic in OUR name, which we expressly do not give you permission to do.

The people of this country have suppressed themselves many times, and on an unimaginable scale, so that we do not offend those who choose to live among us. We view this gesture as a two way street.

So please, we are asking the council to vote against this motion, to preserve racial harmony and show respect for everyone affected by your decision on the matter. Should you decide to go ahead, we will officially organise as large a protest as we can possibly muster with all the media we can gather, and put the spotlight straight onto the Preston Labour Council.

Thank You.
