I care deeply for the character of Seattle, which I believe is at risk of being altered. I also care deeply for people, who through whatever means have found themselves homeless. I do not believe changing our city from one with a visible sky through single family homes to one with high rises will help homelessness. Why do we not change laws to no longer allow university village - an essentially single level, commercial "town" with NO residence!! Adding homes to commercial zoning will be less expensive and put people in areas that are now only used during the day.

I agree with other's comments. I too thought I was a liberal, until now! I am fed up with the out of control building that is degrading the quality of life in this city. The vistas and views are disappearing. When the sun comes out, sunshine can't reach the sidewalks. And where are the parking lots for all these new residents and shoppers and diners? You can't force people to ride bikes! I have two young children. It rains a lot here. I'm not about to ditch the van!

I've lived in Seattle all my life and I own a small business. I never thought that I'd thinking about leaving. Many of my friends have moved away because of the high cost to live here. The city council is so far left, that there is no voice to represent a right or centrist voice. People who rent continue to vote for everything because it's tied to property taxes and there is no direct hit to them. Passing ST3 will increase my property taxes that will most likely cause me to leave my beautiful city. As the saying goes...Elections have consequences and the extreme left it destroying Seattle with high taxes, out of control homelessness, unemployed youth. I pray it will wake up before I too am forced to leave.

Why aren't the developers paying for road improvement? Parking solutions? funding toward incentives to bring more police officers to Seattle? and of course, affordable housing?
And WHY are we - we meaning our city government - not saving our beautiful old buildings??
There are plenty of buildings that can come down and not take away the beauty of our city. An example is the lovely home on the corner of 61st and 20th NW. What is wrong with us that we don't treasure our treasures?

I have always considered myself very liberal but I have come to a place where I want a Seattle city council that is more centered. I am concerned that one of only 2 reasonable voices, Tim Burgess, is leaving and worried about what voice may replace him. I have been very upset with my councilman, Mike Obrien, for his extreme views promoting HALA upgrade in all neighborhoods, promoting pronto bike programs, etc. And Mayor Murray has been a terrible disappointment. Thank you for this petition, I am in complete agreement.

I am a 4th generation native of Seattle. I adore my city but fear the day when myself and children will no longer be able to afford living here. As renters, we have to move regularly due to sudden and extreme price increases, averaging $600+ with improper notification. After our last move, I realized that next time, we would likely have to move away from our beloved city which has us in close proximity to our families and a rich life filled with activities and friends. This is beyond frustrating because I am a well-educated, small local business owner and this should not be our reality. I know I am not alone, I know many many residents in similar situations.

Without these being tied to MHA for affordable housing they do nothing for affordable housing. The developers will challenge in court having to pay for affordability.

Also it is time a Moritorium is put on Illegal Fraudulent Foreclosures as this is one of the issues our Officials are in Denial about that is part of the problem of lack of housing. Keep people in their homes !!!

Save the small businesses that are rapidly disappearing due to displacement, these small businesses make Seattle unique & special ~ they create community ~ I think this has been forgotten in Seattle.
