If you agree that we do not need to spend approximately 1 million dollars per school for installation and then approximately $15-50K / field annually for maintenances on ARTIFICIAL PLASTIC SYNTHETIC TURF in Henderson County NC please sign this petition to take to the County Commissioners Wednesday AM 2/15/17.
I HAVE BEEN SPENDING MY ENTIRE WEEK PREPARING OUR ARGUMENTS TO PRESENT DIRECTLY TO THE COMMISSIONERS!! THE AMOUNT OF CONCERN FROM THE COMMUNITY ABOUT THESE PLASTIC FIELDS IS ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE AND WE ARE NOT BACKING DOWN UNTIL THEY HEAR US!!
February 15, 2017
THE MOMENTUM IS ABSOLUTELY EXPLODING RIGHT NOW!! I AM BEYOND EXCITED TO SEE THIS COMMUNITY PUSH BACK AGAINST THESE RIDICULOUS PLASTIC TURF COSTS!! WE ARE MAKING A MASSIVE IMPACT AND I AM SO PROUD OF US FOR DEMANDING BETTER FOR OUR SCHOOLS!!

Henderson County ,
Take the money that it would cost and improve playing conditions for the next ten years, pull soil samples, put out good safe materials and do this, all Henderson County fields need love not just the high school football fields

It is Unbelievable that we are even having this discussion. The funding needs to go into the schools where learning takes place not outdoors. Also, it is scientifically proven that athletes who play on crumb rubber have higher rates of cancer than the general population, especially soccer goalies. It is made of recycled tires which contains levels of metal, toxins and carcinogens!! Would you put your kid on the field on a hot sunny day whith the smell of rubber in the air? I won't.

With the school system already claiming financial dire straits due to new classroom size legislation, this seems a bit ridiculous.

Artificial turf is a waste of tax payers dollars. What is this The Lorax? Give the money to the BAND and ART classes. I will also have you know I am a registered Republican, just in case it matters to someone who is collecting this data.

I believe, there is much more need within the school setting itself than artificial turf outside. Monies should be spent in areas that would benefit our children in the core areas of learning before ever considering spending an amount of money as such at this level. I do understand the safety concern with conventional fields and injuries occurring from slippage, but the need is far greater for the instructional/curriculum side of this argument.

Artificial turf is extremely dangerous for students and should not be placed on the fields. The kinds of scrapes and cuts it places on there body is incredibly painful. Perhaps before voting for this, the board and voters should go take a slide in shorts on the artificial turf field down from fruitland baptist church. Incredibly painful! Not only is it putting students in harms way, but will the county be able to fund proper sanitation of the fields?

I do not understand this. I believe the women soccer players are forced to play on artificial turf and they get injured because of it.
