Say NO to the "Swim with the Tuna" experience at Victor Harbor, say NO to aquaculture on the Fleurieu.

There is no doubt that tuna cages attract predators, including sharks. To place one in an area where surfers & swimmers gather is completely unrealistic . Council approval needs to be overturned for the sake of common sense.

Does not belong in this day and age.

Totally irresponsible proposal and if allowed to go ahead the council should be held accountable if unfortunately a tragedy occur.

The Fleurieu does not need to attract more sharks to our area. Swim with the Tuna idea is bound to attract these predators. I would rather see more activity to find out why we are having less whales visiting and do whatever we can to improve them visiting us.

NO to tuna cages in Victor Harbor. This makes no sense for tourism or education. Its cruel, damaging to the seabed environment&above all, risks attracting sharks to our now safe&tranquil beaches. The area will never be the same again. Why aren't you learning from nsw&pt. Lincoln where its failed. This is foolish&selfish. Protect our precious environment & endangered species such as the Leafy Seadragon!!

The Swim with the Tuna experience only lasted 5 years in Port Lincoln, so what makes anyone think it will be viable in Victor Harbor? Apparently they had approximately 38000 people visit in 5 years which equates to only about 20 people a day. They closed due to increasing costs and declining visitor numbers.

It is nothing short of being totally irresponsible for the local council to allow this to happen. When something does happen , I hope the councilors that voted this in are held accountable.

Again a few individuals chasing some monetary benefit are disregarding the risks associated with their venture to other people in the same region. A public information meeting was held on the 23rd and comments and feedback was closed on the 31st so the public had only a few days to voice any opinions or concerns which seems inadequate for what could be a public safety matter like this.

It is becoming apparent in SA that Consultation with the public really means a few people with a similiar interest getting together to agree in unison that a particular idea is good and should happen. I read the papers and never see the consultation process until it has happened and is agreed upon. Especially where the Weatherill Government is concerned. Gillman, Cheltenham, St Clair, Cyclist and now sharks. Ruin our playground just like Port Lincolns. It will attract SHARKS and once SHARKS are attracted they will keep coming back even after the cage is removed! Don't let there be a fatality!
