Building more runways at Heathrow would cause a number of huge issues: detrimental noise impact on residents' health, lack of sleep - also consider the possibility of potential accidents. There must be a limit to the number of planes that can queue pre landing with only minutes of slots between them.

We need to make the best use of existing capacity. No expansion until we've got a handle on our carbon emissions.

We shouldn't be increasing airport capacity at all if we want to help prevent runaway climate change!

As we already live under the such a busy flight path, making us suffer even more noise seems very unfair to me.

The noise levels from Heathrow are already intolerable. Further expansion will blight the lives of future generations.

There has been inadequate consideration of alternatives and not enough proof that such a hub will be necessary in the face of future reductions in air travel, unless planes are fuelled by compressed shale gas.

As I type this, there is the roar of yet another jet passing overhead and, as I look out the window, I can see three more following and, behind them, there are no doubt many more to come today, one after another. But at least current traffic, while high, still allows us to enjoy fairly regular periods of peace and quiet. However, any further expansion of the airport can only be achived by eating in to those periods of calm and that would, most certainly, be intolerable and unacceptable for all who live under the present flight paths.
